The new SPECTRUM Water chiller from ENGIE Refrigeration is available on the international market as of today, Monday 10 October 2022. The model with a capacity range of 170 to 1,100 kilowatts of nominal cooling capacity is a perfect addition to the existing portfolio of the cooling and heating specialist from Lindau on Lake Constance, Germany – and is a future-proof investment for users, thanks to its oil-free high-lift turbo compressors and the refrigerant R-1234ze. ENGIE Refrigeration will present this innovative product from 11 to 13 October 2022 at the Chillventa trade fair in Nuremberg.
Powerful, energy-efficient and highly reliable: the new SPECTRUM Water chiller from ENGIE Refrigeration meets all the requirements for the cooling supply of the present and the future. The water-cooled brine cooler is now available six basic models and a nominal cooling capacity range of 170 to 1,100 kilowatts with chilled medium outlet temperatures of down to -10 degrees Celsius. It is suitable for all process cooling applications classified as normal cooling – from the food and drink industry and the pharmaceutical and chemical industries to environmental simulation climate chambers used for research purposes. As Jochen Hornung, CEO of ENGIE Refrigeration, says: ‘Our The SPECTRUM Water chiller is in the spirit of the times. We are proud to offer our customers the only water-cooled chiller series with oil-free high-lift turbo compressors in its performance class on the international market. We have thereby reached another milestone in our company’s history.’
The new SPECTRUM Water chiller features an innovative, modular, standardised and oil-free machine design made in Germany. The concept is based on the tried-and-tested technology of the QUANTUM Water chiller, the most efficient water-cooled chiller series in the world since July 2021. As a result, the SPECTRUM also achieves optimal efficiency values in cooling mode (EER); this is ensured by oil-free turbo compressors with magnetic bearings, flooded tube bundle heat exchangers with the latest inner piping technology optimised for glycol applications, and the open-flash economizer integrated as standard. Furthermore, the low-GWP refrigerant R-1234ze (GWP value of < 1) with minimal filling capacities ensures that the SPECTRUM Water chiller will continue to comply with the F-gas Regulation in future. There is another reason why the chiller is so highly sustainable: it combines an eco-friendly refrigerant with high levels of system efficiency, resulting in lower direct and indirect emissions and thus contributing to an outstanding overall ecological balance (TEWI – Total Equivalent Warming Impact). The product is highly efficient in its use of space; it also offers excellent control quality, thanks to precise PID control, a high-quality Siemens S7 PLC, and smart control, which allows users to operate it from their own end device. The SPECTRUM Water also has an interface with the CoolCare remote maintenance software from ENGIE Refrigeration. This allows users to benefit from continuous improvement and uncomplicated remote troubleshooting performed by the specialists at ENGIE. In addition to its standard operation as a water-cooled chiller, the model can be operated as a brine/water heat pump with rated thermal outputs of between 170 and 1,060 kilowatts at cooling medium temperatures of up to 50 degrees Celsius. It reaches its full potential in all types of low-temperature comfort heating applications when it is combined with ice storage systems, near-surface geothermal energy or air-pressurised hybrid coolers. ‘Whether as a chiller or a heat pump, SPECTRUM Water guarantees maximum operational reliability throughout its service life. Operating companies are thus investing in a reliable, sustainable and therefore future-proof system’, explains Jochen Hornung.
